Canine Heartworm Disease
Follow-up Visit:

After the 30 day rest period, your dog will come in for a difil test. This is a blood test to make sure that any heartworm larvae produced by the dying heartworms have been eliminated. If the test is negative, then your dog can be started on a monthly heartworm preventative. If the test is positive, then we will administer an injection of ivermectin to kill any remaining larvae, and start your dog on a monthly heartworm preventative.
